Martin Adams Ltd is a family-run construction and project planning company with over 40 years of experience. Founded by Martin Adams, a skilled carpenter continuing the legacy of his father, our business has always been built on craftsmanship, care, and a genuine passion for working with wood.
Over the decades, we’ve built a trusted reputation for high-quality work and long-standing client relationships—many of which are still going strong today. Our continued success has been driven by word of mouth, a testament to the standards we uphold on every job.
Martin’s son, James, has worked alongside him for many years. Five years ago, James stepped into a leadership role, taking over the day-to-day management of the company. With a focus on growth and customer satisfaction, James has brought new ideas and energy while continuing the family values the business was built on.
In 2025, Richard, James’ brother-in-law, joined the team to oversee project management. His role ensures every customer stays informed and involved at each stage of the process—further strengthening our commitment to clear communication and reliable service.

Martin Adams
Owner/ Carpenter (Black coffee with no sugar)
Martin launched Martin Adams ltd after being taught by the best - his father! His workmanship was always in such high demand that he thought he may as well set up on his own and help others build their dreams. Martin now runs the company with his son James.
Martin is a motor bike enthusiast and dog lover who spends his weekends dressed exactly as you see him on your site. He never stops and we're not even sure he owns regular clothes

James Adams
Director/Project Manager (Tea with milk)
As soon as James could leave school he did just that and joined Martin on site.
James lives and breathes property, always innovating, keeping up with trends as well as keeping an eye on the market himself. On top of building, James is a Crufts Champion who also travels the world with his dogs! So when he's not on site, he's probably running round a field with his pooch.
Richard Machin
Project Manager (Tea with milk)
Richard is a Project Manager! While he officially joined the business in 2025, Richard has been part of the family for over 18 years, being married to one of Martin’s daughters.
With a strong background in managing a wide range of projects — from supply chain operations to home renovations. Outside of work, he enjoys clay pigeon shooting and
spending quality time with his two children.
Craig Upton
(Groundwork (Tea with milk + one sugar)
Craig has been part of the building trade for 21 years, with over a decade dedicated to groundwork. He’s the one making sure everything beneath our feet is solid, and he’s a brilliant part of the team. When it comes to drinks, Craig keeps it simple – a tea with milk and one sugar, and he’ll happily skip the coffee.

Jim
Bricklayer (Tea, milk with no sugar)
Jim is our talented bricklayer, bringing almost 40 years of experience to the team. His craftsmanship and dedication are second to none, and he’s a hugely valued part of what we do. When it comes to his cuppa, Jim keeps it classic – just milk, as he’s already sweet enough.
Jay
Plasterer (Black coffee with no sugar)
Jay is our skilled plasterer for an impressive 26 years. His experience and attention to detail make him a key part of the team, and we’re lucky to have him. When it comes to his drink, Jay keeps it strong and simple – black coffee, no sugar.
Alex
Electrician (White coffee, no sugar)
Alex is our go-to electrician, bringing over 40 years of experience since he first started (oh dear!!). With a wealth of knowledge and skill, he’s an essential part of the team and always gets the job done. His drink of choice is a coffee, white with no sugar.
Murray
Electrician (Tea, milk with no sugar)
Murray is one of our experienced electricians, having started back in September 1980 – that’s over 43 years of expertise! He’s seen it all (including when Martin still had long hair back then!!), and his knowledge makes him an invaluable part of the team. Murray’s drink of choice is a simple tea, no sugar.
Steve Hobbs
Plumber (Pure H20 instead of a cuppa)
Steve is our experienced plumber, who’s been perfecting his trade for over 33 years since leaving school back in 1992. With decades of know-how and a great sense of humour, he keeps things flowing smoothly and is a valued member of the team. When it comes to drinks — it’s just Carling for Steve! No coffee just water on site.
Richard Mucza
Originally from Hungary, with 12 years of experience working in Germany and the UK. I’ve lived in the UK countryside for the past 10 years, and I’ve developed my construction skills across three countries. Construction has been a passion of mine since an early age, and you’ll find me on site doing everything from trenches to rooftops bringing hands-on experience, adaptability, and a positive attitude to every job.
